Armed with the theory that the right coach can make any team champions, they assemble a Dream Team of all the best dancers across the country. recent reviews on this movie (Battle of the Year) :

"its dramatization of a U.S. dream team's journey to the international showcase is leaden with predictable character types and storytelling cliches, neither of which its well-executed but oddly infrequent dance sequences are able to overcome." by Todd Gilchrist, Sep 23, 2013

"The actual dancing scenes are occasionally electrifying, if far too sparse, but other than that and the welcome sight of co-star Chris Brown getting clocked in the face, the film barely gets off the ground, much less sticks the landing." by Keith Staskiewicz, Sep 20, 2013

Muscle Shoals

MUSCLE SHOALS is a documentary about a place filled with magic and music, legend and folklore, where the river is inhabited by a Native American spirit who has lured some of the greatest Rock and Roll and Soul legends of all time, and drawn from them some of the most uplifting, defiant, and important music ever created. In Muscle Shoals, Alabama, music runs through the hills, the river, and the spirit of the people. A.K.A. Doc Pomus

Paralyzed with polio as a child, Brooklyn-born Jerome Felder reinvented himself first as a blues singer, renaming himself Doc Pomus, then emerged as a one of the most brilliant songwriters of the early rock and roll era, writing "Save the Last Dance for Me," "This Magic Moment," "A Teenager in Love," "Viva Las Vegas," and dozens of other hits. For most of his life Doc was confined to crutches and a wheelchair, but he lived more during his sixty-five years than others could experience in several lifetimes. A.K.A. DOC POMUS brings to life Doc's joyous, romantic, heartbreaking, and extraordinarily eventful journey. In his later years, Doc was a mentor to generations of younger songwriters, and a fierce advocate for downtrodden rhythm and blues musicians. He wrote a thousand songs - including some of the most recorded songs in the history of popular music - but his most lasting gift may have been his uniquely generous spirit. "If the music industry had a heart," the record producer Jerry Wexler remembered, "it would be Doc Pomus."Packed with incomparable music and rare archival imagery, A.K.A. DOC POMUS features interviews with Doc's collaborators and friends, including Dr. John, Ben E. King, Joan Osborne, Shawn Colvin, Dion, Leiber and Stoller, and B.B. King. Passages from Doc's private journals are read by his close friend, Lou Reed. Doc Pomus' gripping life story makes for a powerful and lively film that introduces this unique American character to a new, much wider circle of admirers. (c) Official Site

"This static documentary portrait relies on the usual panning over photos and tag-team interviews, but the format, like the radio length of a song, doesn't get in the way of its subject's heart." by Nicolas Rapold, Oct 03, 2013

A Dancer's Dream

Blending music with dance, live animation, pre-recorded video, puppetry, and circus arts, A DANCER'S DREAM will blur the lines between reality and imagination, audience and performer. Using Stravinsky's THE FAIRY'S KISS and PETRUSKHA as the foundation for a new narrative, the production chronicles the story of a young woman (played by Sara Mearns) and her dream of becoming a dancer. Entranced by the music, she is "kissed" by the passion to become an artist and drawn into the performance, dancing to the complete score of THE FAIRY'S KISS. By the second act, she has completed her transformation into an artist, becoming Columbine in PETRUSKHA. The production will turn New York's Avery Fisher Hall into a dream world through costumes, sets, staging, and live filmmaking. The film was produced in collaboration with theater and entertainment company Giants Are Small and features their signature technique of using a real-time feed of musicians, puppets, and miniatures projected above the orchestra.
